VACANCIES
WHY JOIN US AT MELTON VETS?
We hope that by advertising the position in this way, you can learn a little more about us.
We are ultimately looking for someone who shares our values, and enjoys being a vet.
We started Melton Vets in 2014 because we wanted to do things a little bit differently. It is important to us that we enjoy our daily work and gain fulfilment from it, and that we as a team, have time for our clients to do the best job we can for their pets.
We strive to ensure our clients and their pets are happy with the service they receive so they come back to us again.
When a dog comes into our clinic for a visit, we work hard to provide a positive experience in the consulting room. We have plenty of dogs that rush in and sit beside the gravy bone tub!
We take time with puppy consults, and try to provide owners with as much useful information as they need. Making a fuss of the puppy and ensuring early visits to the vets are enjoyed.
This is just an example, but we want to demonstrate that we don’t cut corners or penny pinch; we make sure our clients get what they need in a relaxed, friendly and supportive manner. You get more out of them as far as history taking goes and they bond well to you and the practice, and your day is nicer if you feel appreciated!
To enable this we have 15 minute appointments with vets, ten or twenty minute slots with the nurses, and longer if deemed necessary. We ensure there is time during the day to communicate with our clients by phone or e-mail.
We have a wide variety of clients and cases, and you will both consult and deal with surgical and medical in-patients on a daily basis.
To enable this we have a good standard of equipment for a small clinic, which we will continue to add to. This includes separate cat and dog wards, digital x ray, ultrasound, in house blood facilities, high speed dental unit, blood pressure monitors and pulse oximeters.
We will be working towards RCVS and ICC accreditation in 2017 and have a fantastic team of qualified VNs, receptionists and support staff to enable you to carry out your job to the highest standard. We consider our support staff and VNs to be an invaluable part of this.
We have 2 positions to fill
Veterinary Surgeon
We are looking for a full time vet who will work Monday to Friday, with one night a week and one weekend a month on call. You would have the Friday afternoon after a weekend on call off.
Hours are 8.30am until 6.30pm (we start consulting at 9am, and finish at 6pm, with a late clinic on a Thursday until 7pm which is alternated between the 3 vets).
You are likely to have 2 dedicated operating mornings where consults are later on in the day allowing you to see your cases through and discharge surgical cases.
You need to be confident in all aspects of first opinion medicine and surgery as there is some sole charge involved. Ideally you will have at least 2 years experience, preferably 3 with at least 1 year working in the UK.
You need to be good at converting consults into procedures and happy to perform general surgery such as enterectomy, splenectomy, caesarians etc. Good ultrasound skills would be fantastic but not essential. A willingness to learn, and try new techniques is essential.
There is plenty of scope to bring a unique skill to our clinic. You will need to be well organised, punctual and reliable. You will need to keep your clinical notes up to date as we believe it is much easier for the whole team to provide the high level of service customers expect if the notes are clear, results reported promptly, messages answered etc. Our practice management system (Cirrus) is easy to use.
We want you to enjoy your work and make sure the rest of us do too. You will hopefully join us for a drink and a chat from time to time at the end of the day.
You need to remain calm on the odd busy day and you need to be able to communicate effectively with your colleagues as well as our clients.
We offer a good rota to maximise your work life balance and would like to think we are understanding employees regarding time off etc.
You will be rewarded with a good salary, generous funded CPD, 28 days holiday and RCVS fees paid for, and hopefully a happy place to work doing the job you love.
This is a great job for a true general practitioner.
Please send all CVs FAO Charlotte or Giles at meltonvets@gmail.com with a covering letter or feel free to call us to chat through the job or even pop in and have a look round
Part time Veterinary Nurse
We are also looking for a part time qualified RVN to join our team, most of the above applies to this position too.
We need someone to cover 3 days a week. Ideally Mondays, Tuesday and Fridays; the hours are split between the other nurse covering that day with early shift starting at 8am until 4.30pm and late shift starting at 10am until 6.30pm.
There will be one night a week and one weekend a month on call.
Again, we are looking for someone who loves their job and will fit into our lovely team of nurses who regularly go above and beyond.
Nurse clinics are encouraged and CPD is funded and RCVS fees paid by the practice. You will be paid a generous salary and again have 28 days holiday.
Please send all CVs to Charlotte or Giles at meltonvets@gmail.com, call for a chat or pop in to have a look round.
